The Return of the Fly...

Gosh... What is wrong with the men here (JB)!?!? Seems like half of them (am being optimistic already...) have displayed fly-like traits...! (Check out my previous blog on the definition of a fly-like person).

Just last nite, I had another encounter with such a person... And no, its not the same guy as described in my previous blog (see link above). This time, its another guy , and whats worse, its someone I have never met. He is the salesperson for my company's supplier, and whom I have only spoken to twice over the phone last year to obtain some prices.

So over the months, he has been smsing me occasionally here and then, and all those times, I have totally ignored the messages as I didn't like to engage in idle conversation with someone I didn't know well.. Anyway, it so happened that he smsed me again last nite.....

P aka Fly2: Joanne, do u still remember me?

Being in a good mood and all, I decided to be polite and reply to him
Me: Yes, How r u? (Translation: Short & curt replies are the first step to deter a person)

P aka Fly2: Am fine, I thought u forgot me.

Me: No lah, U r P from XXX company rite? But I only remember talking 2 u on the phone.. How did u get my mobile no.? (Translation: Hello...? I have a good memory ok... and I also remember that I did not give u my mobile no. at all.. Don't u know its rude to obtain a person's number without their permission??)

P aka Fly2:Tats right. Can we be friend? Me pandai (clever) lor can hv ur number pretty girl, Hehe

Me: How do u know I am pretty? Maybe I am not so pretty as u think.. Then u will be disappointed.. (Translation: Wat the?! So the reason why u keep smsing me is becoz u think i am pretty.. What a jerk!!)

P aks Fly2: My six sense feel it. if u no pretty i wont disappointed. if hv gf like u oso good

Me: Sorry le... I am not available to be your gf. (Translation: Now u r testing my patience dude...I have no time to entertain your antics...)

P aka Fly2: Wat do u mean?

Me: It means if u r thinking of 'chasing' me, then sorry U have no chance... (Translation: Piss off !! Do I have to spell it out for you??)

P aka Fly2: But we can still be fren rite...?

Me: Hmmm...I would rather we be business associates... (Translation: Who in this day and age still ask permission to be friends?? Besides no thanks, i would not like to be associated with u, but i still need your company to give me quotations for stuff...)

P aka Fly2: Ok nevermind

Me: Thanks!! (Translation: Trying to be courteous and polite to ease the pain of rejection... Haha.. Good Riddence!!!)

There u go, fly successfully annihilated!! *cross my fingers*

Where Do Pets Come From??

It is reported that the following edition of the Book of Genesis was discovered in the Dead Sea Scrolls. If authentic, it would seem to shed some light on the question, "Where do pets come from?".

And Adam said, "Lord, when I was in the garden you walked with me everyday. Now I do not see you anymore. It is lonesome out here and it is difficult for me to remember how much you love me." And God said, "No problem! I will create a companion for you that will be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will know I love you, even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish and childish and unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourself."

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam. And it was a good animal. And God was pleased. And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and he wagged his tail. And Adam said, "But Lord, I have already named all the other animals and all the good names have been taken and I cannot think of a name for this new animal." And God said, "No problem! Because I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG."

And DOG lived with Adam and was a companion to him and loved him. And Adam was comforted. And God was pleased. And DOG was content and wagged his tail. And after a while it came to pass thart Adam's guardian angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam has become filled with pride. He struts and poses like a turkey and he believes he is worthy of adoration. DOG has indeed taught him that he is loved, but no one has taught him humility." And the Lord said, "No problem! I will create for him one who will be with him forever and who will see him as he is. The companion will remind him of his limitations, so he will know that he is not worthy of adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam. And CAT would not obey Adam. And when Adam gazed into CAT's eyes, he was reminded that he was not the supreme being. And Adam learned humility. And God was pleased. And Adam was greatly improved. And CAT did not care one way or the other.

Two weeks on... and still busy...

Has been more than 2 weeks since my last blog, and i am still inundated with work...!!

I have managed to close off 2 tenders in the last 2 weeks, including one very cumbersome one just a couple of days ago, but it seems that these tenders doesn't stop coming in....!! Since Thursday, I have received one more tender which is due next Tuesday... which means more OT work this weekend.... Arrggghh...

For the record, Jolll had worked throughout last weekend, rushing to finish her work...

Hopefully things will turn out to be less stressful after next Tuesday, after I submit this tender... Unless of course, another tender decides to pop in!!!

Its Tenders Galore at the Moment!!!

Busy, Busy Busy as a Bee...

Phew!! It has been quite a while since I have been so busy...

Being in the construction industry, my workload is very much dependent on the number of projects that I have on hand. And being the sole QS in the company... I pretty much have a hand in almost every ongoing project, from the tendering and estimating stages to the construction stages...

And it so happens that in the span of this 1 week, my company has managed to clinch a couple more projects, which means my workload has dramatically increased to encompass the following:

  1. One ongoing project.
  2. One project to be finalised
  3. Two new projects to start on.
  4. One tender (which I have yet to start on)
  5. One project pending to be awarded
  6. One tender pending drawings and documents.

Currently, my desk is filled to the brim with drawings, files, folders, and stacks upon stacks of paperwork such as invoices, quotations, letters, more drawings...

And guess what, today is one of those rare times when I wish it wasn't Friday....!!

Too much work, too little time... Sigh

It's Heads down and Back to work for Jolll...
