Hooked on The O.C
My oh my, am I hooked to the TV series,
The O.C….
And its all thanks to my younger sister, who had brought back with her, a whole set of DVDs containing all episodes from the First season of
The O.C.Now I must admit, I was not interested in it initially.. I mean come on lah…I am way past my
puberty and teeny bopper stage… And all this drama about love and family relationships between a group of 16-yr olds, set in a rich and posh area called
Orange County (hence the O.C) where everyone knows everybody.... Hmm, sounds familiar
*Jolll smirks*…. Oh ya, its like the current version of
Beverly Hills 90210 (which I was hooked to during my heydays…hehe)
So that was why I had never bothered to catch it when it was showing on TV..
*double smirk*
But on last Sunday, when the scorching hot sun made it impossible to be outdoors, and while we were bored to death at home doing nothing… we decided to watch the DVDs anyhow…just to while away the time…
But
Lo and Behold! After the first episode, I found it hard to stop watching… In fact I was hooked!! The storylines are quite compelling, the script is witty and fun, and what’s interesting is how the lives of the different characters are intertwined and linked together, which forms a platform for lots of juicy stories…! And of course the
eye candy cannot be missed, while I am far from
downright ogling at the male characters, I must say that the pretty faces do make the series more attractive…
However, after watching
15 episodes (as of 1.30am this morning), I still can’t believe the protagonists are only
16!! Seems like their lives are so much complicated than a 25 turning 26 year old here… But then again…
Orange County and
Johor Bahru are totally miles apart! (and I’m not just talking about the
distance here..)
Just another OC snippet before I end this blog… How is it possible that a 16-yr old (Marissa) can own so many
Chanel Bags (I have counted 3 already… and still counting) and even carry one to school??
*incredulous smirk* Have they any idea how much one cost???
I guess this will only happen in
The O.C !! 12 more episodes to go before I finish the entire series…More
Chanel Bags counting tonite…
*smirk smirk*
Come Back Soon, Thomas
After being back for close to 2 weeks, its time again to say good bye to my eldest sister and my nephew, as they return to Sydney where they reside..
I have always enjoyed having my eldest sis come back home for holidays. Somehow she always manages to lift the spirit of our house, and everyone would be in good moods and happy spirits when she is around.
In the last two years, her trips home comes with an added bonus -- her son Thomas, who, over the last 2 years, have evolved from a handsome bundle of joy to a still-handsome-but-over-hyper-active toddler who can outwit, outlast and outplay any adult...
I have never seen any kid who has such high levels of energy!! For starters, he doesn't stop bouncing around from one place to another, and constantly needs someone to entertain and play with him.
Yet he is the sweetest and most sociable little boy that I've ever come across..

Thomas
He has a smile for everyone and for every occasion, even to a perfect stranger; he would not hesitate to give him/her a pat on the shoulder and an endearing smile to say "hello"
With him around, its never a dull moment.. and now that he's left for Sydney.. things at home do seem kinda quiet without him around.
Can't wait to see you again, Tom. You are sorely missed!!
Lots of Love from your yiyi
In Loving Memory of my doggy...
I
write in remembrance of my doggy Tongtong, a perkingnese mix, which was put to sleep on the 6th Feb 2005..
Poor dog, the vet couldn’t save him as he was quite seriously injured (his front leg cum shoulder was crushed by my dad’s car when he was reversing out of the garage) and being quite an old dog at the age of 12 years old, I had decided to end his misery by putting him to sleep…
Never had I sobbed so hard in my life: watching him whimper and cry due to the pain caused by the accident, to the moment when the vet injected him with the intravenous shot putting him to sleep – my eyes were never dry…
My only consolation is that my beloved dog is no longer in pain and suffering, but now in Pet Heaven enjoying himself...
First post of 2006
A very Happy New Year to everyone out there, and Gong Xi Fa Cai!
2 months had slipped by just like that... without any updates from Jolll..! For one, the flies have kinda stopped zapping around me for a while, plus I have busy - busy with work, busy with family, and busy enjoying all the festivities that have been occuring one after another...!
With Chinese New Year now coming to close, I am afraid its time for a reality check!
Sighhhh.. No more holidays, no more excuses to finish work early, no more mahjong games, no more pigging out, and no more sleeping in..!!. (errr... can lah still can sleep in during the weekends. This is just for some exaggerated effect...)
On a positive note, the year so far has been good to me... I am now a proud joint-owner of my very first property, and I am going to be the proud nanny cum cat-sitter cum aunty to my nephews' first cat (yay!).
May this year hold many more 'First's for me...!! Happy New Year Everyone!
Chinese New Year - A Family Reunion
Today's my last day of work before I break for the week long CNY celebrations..!
Its always great to see my family members gather together for this yearly ritual, for its a good chance for all of us siblings (6 of us) to catch up, eat, drink and be merry. And for the last several years, our family has been expanding yearly bringing the total head count this yr to 16!
Add to this total, my numerous relatives - aunties, uncles, cousins etc etc, and u'll get a house full of noise emanating from:
1) the
'Aunty Group' - i.e aunties' chatting, bitching, and comparisons of their sons & daughters
2) the
'Junior Group' - i.e. kiddies' playing and chasing each other around the house
3) the '
Teens' - i.e. teenagers playing with cards and games
4) the
'Male Bonding Group' - i.e. the uncles general chatting coupled with drinks on the side
5) the
'Loner Group' - not that they are making much noise themselves, its just the TV that they are watching thats contributing to the noise decibel...
How about me? I belong to the
Mahjong Group - that is, the group of us that neither falls in the Aunty group (thats solely the married women's privilage) nor the Teens ( We r way past that age) nor the Male Bonding Group (that also belongs to married men...)
Hence we play Mahjong to entertain ourselves!
Have a very Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year Everyone!!!
Update:For the record, Jolll had lost about RM 50.00 this year in Mahjong and playing the dreaded "In Between"...
Women And Men
God made men and women to complement each other with the unique traits eachwere given...
WOMEN: Women have strengths that amaze men. They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens, yet they hold happiness, love, and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy, and laugh when they are nervous. Women wait by the phone for a "safe at home call" from a friend, after a snowy drive home. They are childcare workers, executives, attorneys, stay-at-home moms, biker babes, and your neighbors. They wear suits, jeans, and uniforms. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up against injustice. They walk and talk the extra mile to get their kids into the right schools and to get their family the right healthcare. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. Women are honest, loyal, and forgiving. They are smart; they know that knowledge is power, but they still know how to use their softer side to make a point. Women want to be the best for their family, their friends, and themselves. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. A woman can make a romantic evening unforgettable. Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes. They live in houses, apartments, and cabins. They drive, fly, walk, run, or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin! Women do more than just give birth. They bring joy and hope. They give compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends. And all they want in return is a hug, a smile, and for you to do the same for people you come in contact with.
MEN: Men are good at lifting heavy stuff and killing bugs.
