Chinese New Year - A Family Reunion
Today's my last day of work before I break for the week long CNY celebrations..!Its always great to see my family members gather together for this yearly ritual, for its a good chance for all of us siblings (6 of us) to catch up, eat, drink and be merry. And for the last several years, our family has been expanding yearly bringing the total head count this yr to 16!
Add to this total, my numerous relatives - aunties, uncles, cousins etc etc, and u'll get a house full of noise emanating from:
1) the 'Aunty Group' - i.e aunties' chatting, bitching, and comparisons of their sons & daughters
2) the 'Junior Group' - i.e. kiddies' playing and chasing each other around the house
3) the 'Teens' - i.e. teenagers playing with cards and games
4) the 'Male Bonding Group' - i.e. the uncles general chatting coupled with drinks on the side
5) the 'Loner Group' - not that they are making much noise themselves, its just the TV that they are watching thats contributing to the noise decibel...
How about me? I belong to the Mahjong Group - that is, the group of us that neither falls in the Aunty group (thats solely the married women's privilage) nor the Teens ( We r way past that age) nor the Male Bonding Group (that also belongs to married men...)
Hence we play Mahjong to entertain ourselves!
Have a very Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year Everyone!!!
Update:
For the record, Jolll had lost about RM 50.00 this year in Mahjong and playing the dreaded "In Between"...
