Six Degrees of Separation

Six degrees of separation is the theory that anyone on the planet can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries. While it may seem plausible, but I have never really given much thought about it until these recent chain of events...

Just over a month ago, my company approached our bank for project financing, and I was liasing with this guy JJ, who was handling our account. One day, JJ invited me to join him and his friends for lunch, and it turned out that one of his friends was my primary school classmate (CY) and the other friend (D) actually knows a couple of my Secondary school mates...

Last night's events had further reinforced this notion:

I was invited to the same primary school mate's (CY) birthday bash, and the first person I met turned out to be this fellow that had taken the same school bus with me during primary school days...

Then I met another guy who had commented that I looked familiar to him.. and it turned out that we had attended the same training course previously, and he had actually sat next to me during that course!!

The final straw came when I bumped into another familiar face - my good chum (cum primary school mate), Kat's brother, Kev. Kev is actually on pretty good terms with CY and has known him for some time now, but neither of them had realised that Kat=Kev's sister, and CY=Kat's pri. school classmate; until I came into the picture last nite, and told them both of the connection... Amazing isn't it??

Whatever u call it: be it six degrees of separation or pure coincidence or just becoz JB is such a small town - whatever it is, it is still nice to find that long-lost friend, or that boy who used to take the same school bus, and to discover that they have all been doing well over the years.

It is that nostalgic feeling plus the excitement of finding someone whom you have not met in years that has made these recent events seemed so significant....

Oh dear, What am I doing..?? Talking about Nostalgia and all...?? I know.. I must be still in denial since my 26th birthday last week..
*Sob* I want to remain 21 always....!!
